Step 01: Remove the damaged LCD Screen

  • Before starting, you need to remove your battery from the phone. You can remove the back cover of the battery and remove it from your phone easily.
  • The top cover is held by two screws. So, you will need a pentalobe screw driver to remove those screws. Once the top cover is free from screws remove it by gently sliding it upwards.
  • After removing the top cover, the frame will be revealed. It is held with 7 screw in total. Among them two screws are on the top and 5 screws are in the middle. Remove all the screws from the frame with a torax 4 screw driver.
  • Now move on to the front portion of the phone. Place an opening tool in between the keyboard and the plastic cover. Start from one corner of the keyboard and then slide gently to remove the plastic cover. 2 screws will be unleashed which can be removed easily with a torax 4 screw driver.
  • Though all the screws are already removed but you still need to remove the plastic covering that houses the main board. Remove the plastic housing board with an opening tool. Start from one corner and carefully remove all the clips that hold the housing in place.
  • There are 5 small connectors that connect to the main board. You can remove all of them with a plastic opening tool. Using the same tool, you can remove the main board from the plastic housing. Adhesives that held the board in its position are easily removable. So, you will be able to remove the board easily once you have removed the connectors.
  • There is a sticker on the place of the battery. If you peel the sticker upside then you will be able to find two screws that hold the keyboard. The first screw is on the left side and the second one can be found on the right side under the copper color sticker. Unscrew both of them using a Philips screw driver. As soon as the keyboard is unscrewed, push the keyboard from the backside with your thumb. It will come out easily.
  • Now you can remove the LCD screen from the frame. Don’t apply pressure on it. At first try to slide it down from its place. When it slides a bit, then push from the backside gently. The screen will pop out from the frame.
  • Though the screen came out but still there is headphone jack, camera etc. that need to be removed. There are two screws to hold the headphone jack. Remove the screws with a T4 screw driver. Without the screws, the headphone jack will easily come out.
  • Now pry off the rear back camera of the mobile carefully. As the camera is attached with some adhesive so it will easily come out if you use a plastic tool. But you have to be careful so that the flex cable doesn’t get damaged during this process.

Thus, the screen is now completely detached from the phone.

Step 02: Reassemble the new LCD screen on its place

  • Put the rear back camera on the top left corner of the new screen.
  • At first, put back the rear camera and the headphone jack. Place the camera on the top left corner which can be attached using some adhesive. Put the head phone jack on the top right corner. Use a T4 screw driver to put back the two screws that held the jack on its place.
  • To put the screen back on the frame, at first you should place it underneath and then slide it up to adjust. Slightly push with your thumb to place it properly around the corners.
  • Place the keyboard from the front. Make sure that the flex cables are fitted in and then adjust the keyboard with your fingers. The edges and linings of the keyboard should be placed properly. Then, screw it in with the two Phillip screws that secure the keyboard.
  • Now put the motherboard back into its place carefully. The best way to do this is, to start putting it in an angle, checking the USB port lining, flex cable etc. and then pressing it back on its place.
  • Plug in all the 5 connectors properly. You will feel a little click when a connector is properly set. Press the flex cables of the keyboard so that it gets attached to the board using adhesive.
  • Put back the plastic cover on its place. Check if the edges are adjusted properly. Now screw it down with two screws on the top part and the 5 screws on the main portion.
  • Put the two T4 screws of the keyboard on the front side of the phone. Place back the plastic cover under the keyboard.
  • Now place the top cover on the phone. Slide it carefully to assure that the connectors seated properly. Screw it in using the two remaining screws.
